Handel Addresses Our Nation’s Opioid Crisis

June 15, 2018 \\ Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Karen Handel (GA-6) released the following statement to share comprehensive steps Congress is taking to combat America’s opioid epidemic:

“In the 6th District of Georgia, Fulton and Cobb counties have the highest opioid and heroin overdose rates of all counties in the entire state of Georgia. In 2016 alone, 1,394 lives were lost. Families and friends are torn apart, and everyone knows someone who has suffered from, or been affected by, opioid addiction. Throughout this month, Congress will consider over 70 bills to help protect our communities from this epidemic. I will continue to advance solutions for prevention, help recovering addicts get back on their feet, and crack down even further on dealers.”
