Handel Calls for Commonsense Immigration Reform

June 27, 2018 \\ Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Karen Handel (GA-6) released the following statement after the House failed to pass responsible solutions to address the current immigration crisis:

“I am extremely disappointed that the House could not pass a sensible, long-term solution to our broken immigration system. Today’s bill included $25 billion in advanced funding for the border wall system and other border security and addressed the President’s “Four Pillars” of immigration reform. Importantly, the bill also would have prohibited the separation of children from parents at the border. The status quo is unacceptable. Doing nothing perpetuates lawlessness at our border and results in de facto amnesty. Congress needs to act on these issues, and I hope my colleagues will join me in supporting commonsense solutions in the future.”
