The Honorable Karen Handel Sworn into Office

Washington DC– Karen Handel was sworn in this evening, Monday June 26th, to become Georgia’s first female Republican Member of Congress.  The swearing in occurred on the House Floor with the Dean of the Georgia Delegation, Congressman John Lewis introducing her to the House, followed by Congressman Tom Graves.

Congresswoman Handel said before taking her oath, "I remain humbled by this extraordinary privilege to serve the citizens of Georgia’s sixth district, and I look forward to getting right to work for them this week.”

Karen Handel now begins work representing the people of Georgia’s sixth district, a seat formerly held by HHS Secretary Tom Price, U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.
