Thirteen 6th District Students Receive Military Academy Appointments

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, U.S. Representative Karen Handel announced the appointment of 13 Sixth District students to U.S. Military Service Academies.  Each year, members of Congress are tasked with nominating up to ten students to each Military Service Academy, while the respective academies grant final appointments.

“The Sixth District produced an extraordinary group of candidates for our nation’s military academies this year,” Rep. Handel said.  “This is one of the responsibilities I have relished the most during my time in Washington, and I'm so proud of these young men and women for their willingness to serve their country." 

The following students received appointments to a Military Service Academy:

  • United States Air Force Academy (Colorado Springs, CO): 
    • Connor Haseley from Marietta, GA/ NYU, Stanford University, Walton HS
    • Aditya Mhaskar from Alpharetta, GA/ Alpharetta HS
  • United States Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point, NY): 
    • Blaine McDonough from Marietta, GA/ Walton HS
    • William Roberts from Tucker, GA/ The Baylor School
  • United States Military Academy (West Point, NY): 
    • Gabriela Boatright from Sandy Springs, GA/ North Springs Charter HS
    • Robert Chappell from Alpharetta, GA/ Alpharetta HS
    • Joseph McDermond from Atlanta, GA/ Marist School
    • Connor McGurk from Marietta, GA/ Georgia Virtual HS, Pope HS
    • Hanah Percher from Marietta, GA/ Lassiter HS
