According to the U.S. Treasury Department, 90% of Americans will see their taxes go down in 2018. Meanwhile, 4 million workers (and counting) have received more than $3 billion in bonuses this year. Labor Department numbers released last month showed unemployment benefit claims at the lowest since 1969. Tax cuts continue to spur record levels of economic confidence. Payrolls are increasing and the unemployment rate remains at the lowest since 2000.

Rep. Handel today recognized the winners of the middle school “Future City Competition.” The students are Roswell residents, and attend St. Jude’s Catholic School in Sandy Springs. This academic contest challenged middle school students to design a city set at least 100 years in the future. It is designed to teach kids how cities work while also strengthening knowledge in STEM subjects.

Early this morning, I voted for a bill that makes strong, critical investments in our military while establishing funding for Community Health Centers for two years. There are 281 Federally Qualified Health Centers in Georgia, and 2 in the Sixth District. These entities encompass all Community Health Centers, public housing centers, and programs serving the homeless, among others. Community Health Centers increase access to healthcare, improve patient outcomes, and are uniquely positioned to spread the benefits of community-based and patient centered care. I was proud to cast the second vote this week in support of Community Health Centers.
